Bang at Alpshl team: entire board resigns!

Just three days before the start of the new season in the Alps Hockey League, an unexpected leadership quake occurred at the traditional Slovenian club HDD Jesenice. Club president Peter Bohinec resigned together with the entire board on Wednesday.

Background: Sponsor withdraws

After a sporty successful season 2024/25, the club had to cope with a bitter setback in spring: the long -time main sponsor Sij Acroni withdrew. Despite intensive efforts, the club management had not managed to win a new general partner, Bohinec said in a statement to the fans.

“We take responsibility for the situation and thus create space for everyone who is willing to take over the management of the club,” said the message.

Crisis, but no retreat from the league

Although rumors have recently been circulating from the AHL, the club confirmed the participation in the coming season. A specially formed crisis group should now secure the basis for the game and install a new tour.

“It is true that we would have had the opportunity to log off from the league until today. However, we didn’t do that,” said Bohinec in yesterday’s broadcast.

Players want to stay

Despite the unclear future and financial uncertainties, the players have confirmed their will to play for Jesenice. The team is already looking at the start of the season: On Saturday with the final opponent of last season, EK Zell am See, a sporty highlight is waiting.
