Balance and strong hall utilization at the start of the ICEHL season!

The new win2day ICE Hockey League season is once again exciting with excitement and balance. After ten rounds played, the top 6 teams are within just three points, and of the 60 games played so far, 24 matches ended with just one goal difference. There is also a slight increase in viewer numbers compared to the previous season.

In the 60th game of the current win2day ICE Hockey League season, HC TIWAG Innsbruck won in overtime at Olimpija Ljubljana on Sunday. With the victory against the leaders, the Tyroleans left the bottom of the table. The Slovenians are one point ahead of EC iDM Heat Pumps VSV, followed by HCB Südtirol Alperia and HC Falkensteiner Pustertal (18 points each). With 17 points, EC Red Bull Salzburg and the Moser Medical Graz99ers complete the top six. The currently seventh-placed EC-KAC has the same points average as league leaders Ljubljana – with two fewer games played.

The league is now very exciting again after a month. A similar balance in the top European leagues currently only exists in Finland, where the top six are only separated by three points.

Of the 60 ICE games played so far, a total of 24 matches ended with just one goal difference and another ten with a two-goal difference. This means thrills until the final siren and spectacular duels that thrill fans in every hall.

Slight increase in viewer numbers

At Sunday’s game between the Vienna Capitals and the Moser Medical Graz99ers – which was also broadcast live on ORF 1 – 5,050 viewers set the season’s record to date. In the first four weeks since the league started, 174,201 fans have already flocked to the halls of the win2day ICE Hockey League. This corresponds to an average of 2,903 visitors per game and represents an increase of one percent compared to the previous season, in which more than a million fans were welcomed into the arenas for the first time since 2018/19.
