The separation from Tray Tuomie was not a spontaneous act of liberation at VSV, but the result of a long process. Managing director Martin Winkler made this clear to the “Kleine Zeitung”: “It wasn’t a spontaneous decision. The fact is: it started in August.”
Contrary to many assumptions, the end was not due to sporting results or individual defeats. “We would never throw a coach out because he lost a game,” emphasizes Winkler. There were repeated discussions and warnings during the preparation, but these did not bring any lasting change. From the club’s perspective, the situation ultimately became “unbearable”.
The club cannot disclose details due to a confidentiality clause. However, one thing is clear: The separation was already an internal decision before the derby against KAC in mid-November, but was postponed again at the request of sports director Herbert Hohenberger.
Winkler does not hide the fact that the decision also entails risks. He noted the crash in the table “with a lot of stomachache”. Nevertheless, they were convinced that this step had to be taken. “We made the decision consciously – with all the consequences.”
The VSV managing director firmly rejects rumors of personal escalations in the club between Tuomie and sports director Hohenberger. Now peace should return to Pierre Allard. “He is the coach we will rely on in the future,” says Winkler.
