Back after a break: Benjamin Nissner storms for the national team in Norway!

“I was able to take advantage of the break last year and recharge my batteries,” says the Viennese, who is completing his fifth season in the service of series champions EC Red Bull Salzburg this year. In 44 games in the regular season, Nissner had twelve goals and 20 assists. Within the club, he is in fourth place behind Michael Raffl, Travis St. Denis and TW Bourke.

He now wants to put his qualities back on the ice with the national team and push himself for the 2026 World Cup: “I want to show that I’m back, that I want to play for the team and that I’ll give everything to be at the World Cup.”

From the young group that took off for Oslo (NOR) on Wednesday afternoon Benjamin Nissner convinced: “We have a young, hungry team and I’m looking forward to the games. The quality of training of the young players is incredible. Almost every pass is perfect, the will and motivation are there.”

The four-time champion also enjoys his role as a veteran: “It’s nice to be one of the oldest players. I still have a lot to learn, but I think I also have a lot of help from others.”

As one of the leaders in the team, there Benjamin Nissner also lays out the route for the three-nation tournament in Oslo, where we will face Hungary and Norway: “Just start full throttle. Don’t test the waters, so to speak, just jump in, show that we are young and hungry.”

The game against Hungary will be broadcast live on ORF SPORT + on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Leon Wallner was canceled for the tournament at short notice. Lenz Moosbrugger, who like Maximilian Preiml, Devin Steffler, Johannes Neumann and David Waschnig, is about to make his A-Team debut, was nominated again.
