The Austrian-American defender Kele Steffler has ended his active career. As can be seen from the current entries on the Zeller Eisbären homepage, the Defender is hanging up his skates. Steffler was most recently under contract with Salzburg.
ICEHL career
The Defender made a name for himself especially in the ICE Hockey League. In total, Steffler played 195 games in Austria’s top division, scoring two goals and 20 assists. He spent most of his ICEHL career with EC-KAC, with whom he also won the championship title in 2021.
Training at KAC
After years in the KAC’s youth ranks, the American native of Durango, Colorado, worked his way up to the fighting team step by step. Even at a young age, Steffler was considered a reliable two-way defender with physical presence and defensive stability. In addition to his appearances in the ICEHL, he gained important playing experience in the Alps Hockey League with the EC-KAC Future Team.
Switching to HCI
In the 2023/24 season, Steffler moved to HC Innsbruck. He played two seasons there and played a total of 80 ICEHL games for the Tyroleans. He then moved on to the Zeller Eisbären in the Alps Hockey League in February 2025. With Zell am See he won the AlpsHL title in 2025.
