The search for a coach in the ICE Hockey League continues to gain momentum: After the Vienna Capitals were already considered a possible new employer for Mike Stewart, there are now concrete indications from Salzburg of interest in the experienced coach.
Farewell to Viveiros brings movement
EC Red Bull Salzburg recently officially said goodbye to head coach Manny Viveiros. After the end of the collaboration, the Mozartstadters are now looking for a new solution behind the gang – and also seem to have their eye on Mike Stewart, as the “Kronen Zeitung” reports.
Stewart is in high demand
The 53-year-old Canadian, who most recently worked for the Grizzlys Wolfsburg, is available after being released at the beginning of March. Due to his many years of experience in the DEL and his successful past in Austria, Stewart is considered a particularly attractive candidate for several ICEHL clubs.
It was previously reported that the Vienna Capitals were thinking intensively about a possible commitment.
If interest from Salzburg is confirmed, there could be real competition for Stewart. Both organizations are facing important sporting decisions and see the coaching position as a central building block for the coming season.
One thing is clear: Mike Stewart is currently one of the most exciting options on the coaching market – and a groundbreaking decision could be on the horizon in both Vienna and Salzburg in the next few weeks.
