The number 29 will continue to hunt for goals for the Eisbären in the coming season. Philip Putnik, a true Zeller, goal scorer from the service and the EKZ agree to work together for another year.
You don’t have to explain much about the name “Putnik” to anyone from Pinzgau who has any ice hockey savvy. While father Walter was already a real legend in Zell am See, his son Philip continues there – with lots of goals for the Eisbären. Coming from the Polar Bears’ offspring, he quickly played his way into the fighting team. His nose for scoring is inimitable; he always stands just right in front of the opponent’s goal and uses rebounds and deflections as well as passes from his teammates. His offensive instincts also ensure that he can put his teammates in the spotlight and therefore also has strong numbers in terms of goal assists.
At 33 years old, the striker has plenty of experience and is also an ambitious player who works hard on himself. The Eisbären family is looking forward to seeing him on the ice again next season.
DATA CHECK
Philip Putnik played 51 games for the EKZ last season, scoring 13 goals and 18 assists. 12 penalty minutes and +13 in the +/- balance complete the statistics.
CAREER
The number 29 was born on September 8th, 1992 in Zell am See. After some success in the EKZ’s youth ranks, he made it into the fighting team in the 2008/09 season. After a few seasons at Dornbirn and later Lustenau, Philip Putnik returned to Pinzgau in 2019 and has been playing continuously for the Eisbären since 2021. The greatest success is winning the Alps Hockey League 2024/25.
STATEMENTS
Philip Putnik: “I’m looking forward to playing for the Eisbären again next season. Last season didn’t go quite as we had imagined, so we’ll be attacking again. I can’t wait to play in front of the best fans again. It’s a lot of fun with the boys on and off the ice. Gemma Eisbären!”
Head coach Marcel Rodman: “Philip Putnik is one of those local players who represent the heart and soul of the club. I think it is very important to have players from the region, they know Pinzgau, Zell am See and the entire hockey community. But apart from that, he is also an important player on the ice. His offensive production decreased a little last season, but I am sure that he will want to come back even stronger next season. He has lost none of his quality and we will need his strength in front of the goal again. He is up and off an enrichment on the ice and we are very happy to have him with us.”
