AlpsHL: Zeller Eisbären bring in Austro striker with ICE experience!

The EKZ continues to work on the squad for the coming season. With Alexander Maxa comes a smart center who works well on both ends of the ice, is strong on the face-off and will fit well into the team as a real team player.

After three seasons with the Kitzbüheler Adler, Alexander Maxa is moving to Pinzgau next season. The left-handed shooter is a classic two-way center, so he can initiate good moves on offense, but is just as responsible on defense. He is characterized by his understanding of the game, overview and tactical understanding, as well as a strong rate at the face-off circle. He is also considered a real team player and model professional who lives professionalism on and off the ice.

DATA CHECK

Alexander Maxa played all 44 games last season and was not missed once. He is used both in 5-on-5 and on both special teams. On average, Maxa has an ice time of 19:13 minutes per game (including 2:14 on the power play, 1:41 on the shorthanded). He scored 11 hits, added 24 more and is +4. Only 6 penalty minutes in the entire season underline his discipline, his face-off percentage is 54%.

CAREER

The 1.78 m tall striker was born on March 10, 1999 in Vienna. Through the Vienna Capitals youth team, he first earned a regular place with the Silver Capitals and then made it into the fighting team. After loans to Bregenzerwald and Kitzbühel, the Adler signed him permanently for the 2024/25 season, where he won the Austrian championship title in the Alps Hockey League last year.

STATEMENTS

New addition Alexander Maxa: “I’m really looking forward to running into the KE KELIT Arena as an Eisbär next season. The Zeller Eisbären are one of the top teams in the league. The club is very professionally organized and the team has a lot of quality. I live for the sport, and Zell am See is the right place for me to take the next step in my career.

Head coach Marcel Rodman: “Alex is one of the new additions this summer. He has proven himself in this league and can play in all situations, a real all-round player. We can count on him in defense, but we also expect offensive input. He is a very sincere personality, so he will fit well into the team, both athletically and in terms of character.”

Managing Director Patrick Schwarz: “We are very pleased that we were able to sign Alexander Maxa as a targeted reinforcement for the center position. Alexander is a very structured player who makes his teammates better and can set accents in both the power play and penalty killing. We also particularly appreciate his character and attitude. In addition, his good faceoff rates are an important factor for our game.”
