AlpsHL: Zell wins the derby – RB Juniors take the lead in the table!

The Red Bull Hockey Juniors took the lead in the Alps Hockey League with a shutout on Thursday. While Salzburg remained without conceding a goal in Jesenice, KHL Sisak also lost the fourth duel with the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. Asiago, Zell am See and Unterland also celebrated derby victories.

With their fourth win in a row, the Red Bull Hockey Juniors moved to the top of the Alps Hockey League table. Salzburg won 3-0 in Jesenice. Twelve seconds before the end of the first third, Oberhauser gave the guests the lead. In the second section, league top scorer Eliseev increased the score to 2-0 with a double advantage. Jesenice threw everything forward again in the final third, but Schreiner secured the final score with a 3-0 win. Goalie Ankirchner celebrated his first shutout of the season.

KHL Sisak had to vacate the place at the top. The fourth AHL duel between the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan and the Croatians also went to Vipiteno. The home team was already leading 3-0 after a brilliant first third, but that wasn’t a preliminary decision. Sisak got within a goal in the middle period and Malenica even managed to equalize in the 46th minute. Shortly afterwards, however, Eisendle made the decision 4-3. With their first win after two defeats, the Broncos improved to seventh place.

Zell am See moved into the top 5 with a derby win. The reigning champions defeated Kitzbühel at home 3-2. The visitors took an early lead through Podlipnik, but Coffman equalized in the first third. In front of almost 2,100 fans, the home team turned the game in their favor in the middle period: new signing Tomazevic and captain Wilfan scored to make it 3-1. The only thing left for the Tyroleans was the goal.

HC Migross Asiago won the traditional duel with Cortina and climbed to eighth place. Porco and Chiodo gave the home team an early 2-0 lead. In the middle period, Cortina got within 1-2 thanks to a power play goal from Kris Pietroniro. In the final third, however, Asiago made everything clear: a double strike from Porco and Magnabosco within 18 seconds ensured the decision – in the end, Asiago won 4-2.

The bottom of the table, HC Unterland, was also able to celebrate and celebrated its second win of the season on Thursday. The Cavaliers won 4-2 in Merano. Although the home team took the lead twice in the first third, Unterland managed to equalize again in the middle section. In the final third, the guests turned the game around completely: power play goals from Galassiti and Galimberti secured the away win.
