Five Alps Hockey League games are on the program from Friday to Sunday. KHL Sisak has the opportunity to take the lead in the table. The second-place team will be in action both on Friday at HC Meran/o Pircher and on Saturday at SG Cortina Hafro. Cortina is also playing two games this weekend: In addition to the duel with Sisak, the Italians will face EC Bregenzerwald, who have won all of their last five games and are currently considered the hottest team in the league.
Second-placed KHL Sisak is currently only one point behind leaders Red Bull Hockey Juniors. This means that the Croatians have the chance to take the lead this weekend, as they will be in action twice while the juniors have no games. First, Sisak will be playing at HC Meran/o Pircher in the only Friday game. The twelfth place in the table currently has 14 points, but is only seven points behind fifth-placed Ritten. Of the last five games, Meran was only able to win the last one – in Zell am See (5:4/SO). Sisak, on the other hand, won the last four games.
Sisak was challenged in Cortina on Saturday
On Saturday Sisak will be a guest at SG Cortina Hafro. The Italians have only won two of their last five games and are currently in ninth place. There has been no direct duel between the two teams this season. However, last season Cortina won two of the three matches.
Val Gardena faces Kitzbühel
In the second game on Saturday, HC Gherdeina valgardena.it will face Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel. At the start of the season, both teams met in Kitzbühel, where the Tyroleans celebrated a clear 6-2 home win. It was one of the third-placed team’s eight wins this season so far. Val Gardena, currently eighth, has won six of its twelve games so far, but has only won one of the last five. Kitzbühel, on the other hand, has performed strongly recently with four wins from the last five games.
Cortina with second game within 24 hours
After his Saturday appearance, Cortina is back on the ice less than 24 hours later – this time against EC Bregenzerwald. It wasn’t until October 31st that both teams met in Cortina, where Bregenzerwald narrowly won 4-3 after extra time. EC Bregenzerwald is currently the strongest team in the Alps Hockey League. The Vorarlbergers recently celebrated five wins in a row, most recently on Wednesday at home with a 3-1 win against the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. This means that Bregenzerwald is already in fourth place in the table.
Vipiteno and Zell am See round off the weekend
The fifth and final game of the weekend will be played by the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan and the EK Die Zeller Eisbären. The eleventh-placed Broncos were already in action on Wednesday and lost 3-1 in Bregenzerwald – it was their fifth defeat in a row. Defending champion Zell am See recently suffered two defeats and is currently in sixth place. In the first duel of the season with Vipiteno, the Eisbären celebrated a narrow 3-2 home win.
