HC Meran/o Pircher also won the third quarter-final duel against Asiago. After falling behind, the Adler won 2-1 away on Saturday and can move into the semi-finals of the Alps Hockey League in front of their home crowd on Tuesday. In addition, KHL Sisak and EK Zeller Eisbären regained their series lead with home wins.
KHL Sisak – SG Cortina Hafro 4:3 OT (1:2, 1:0, 1:1)
In a varied game, Sisak beat Cortina 4-3 after extra time. The home side took the lead in the sixth minute with a power play goal from Larionovs, but Cortina turned the game around in the first third – 1:2. Sisak equalized at the start of the middle period and the score was 2-2 going into the second break. In the final third, the guests stepped up again: Barnabo scored in the power play – a total of four powerplay goals were scored. In the final phase, Larionovs equalized with his second goal. In overtime, Vito Idžan became the match winner with his goal in front of almost 2,000 fans.
EK The Zeller Eisbären – Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan 5:2 (1:0, 2:2, 2:0)
The EK Zeller Eisbären advanced again in the quarter-finals against Vipiteno. The reigning champions won the third game 5-2 in front of a home crowd and over 2,100 fans. Christian Jennes became the match winner with a hat trick: He opened the scoring in the sixth minute and scored a hat-trick in the final third. Predan made it 2-0 in the middle period before the South Tyroleans hit back through Cianfrone and Soraruf – 2-2. Before the second break, Jennes put his team back in front before Zauner made the final score in the final minute. Zell am See therefore leads the series 2-1.
HC Migross Asiago – HC Meran/o Pircher 1:2 (0:0, 1:1, 0:1)
After two wins, Meran appeared confident and gained slight advantages in the first third, but without scoring. Rigoni #89 gave the home team the lead in the middle period, but Nousiainen equalized just a few minutes later. In the final third, Fuchs turned the game in favor of the guests, who maintained a narrow lead over time. After their third win in a row, the Eagles have their first match puck to reach the semi-finals on Tuesday in Meran.
