HC Meran/o Pircher is 0-2 behind in the best-of-7 final series against HC Gherdeina valgardena.it and is therefore already under enormous pressure. A win in front of the home crowd on Thursday at 8 p.m. is of great importance. In the event of another defeat, Val Gardena would have four championship pucks to win its first title.
The first two finals were clear affairs in favor of Val Gardena (5:1, 6:3). Now Meran is once again challenged in front of its home crowd and is aiming for its first ever final victory. Another defeat would give Val Gardena four chances to win the title for the first time.
The home defeat at the start of the final on Saturday was Meran’s first defeat against Val Gardena in front of its own audience in over two years. They had previously won four duels in a row against the “Furie”.
Overall, it is only the second time in the ten-year history of the Alps Hockey League that a best-of-7 final series is 2-0 after two games. In 2024, Ritten also had a 2-0 lead against Cortina and ultimately won the series without defeat 4-0.
