AlpsHL: Val Gardena already has a hand in the championship trophy!

HC Gherdeina valgardena.it also won the third final game in the Alps Hockey League on Thursday evening. The team from Wolkenstein clearly won 6-2 at HC Meran/o Pircher and is now 3-0 ahead in the best-of-seven series. With four goals in just 122 seconds in the middle period, the guests set the course for victory. This means that Val Gardena can secure the first AHL title in the club’s history on Saturday in front of their home crowd.

After two clear successes, the “Furie” went into the third final with a lot of self-confidence. The initial phase was balanced, with Val Gardena goalie Endre being able to distinguish himself early on. The guests took the lead in the 15th minute: Davide Schiavone surprised Meran goalkeeper Bernard from the goal line and scored the only goal of the first third. The home team created a few chances, but had no success in front of the goal.

Shortly after the restart, Endre was there again – and his teammates set off a real offensive firework at the front – with four goals within 122 seconds. Martin Castlunger ran towards the goal alone and hit the top corner after a backhand hook. A shot from Sebastiano Soracreppa found its way into the goal before Vlastimil Dostalek found the far corner. Finally Tobias Brighenti was able to make it 5-0 – he scored his first goal for Val Gardena. After this goal, Bernard was replaced in the “Adler” goal by Christian Gamper. However, Meran didn’t give up and made it 1:5 in the 31st minute thanks to a converted penalty from Brayden Sherbinin. A few minutes later, Alex Egger reduced the score to 2:5 in front of over 1,700 spectators.

But Val Gardena didn’t let anything go in the final third: Endre saved a few shots, and six minutes before the end Stephan Deluca made the final score 6-2 with an Empty Netter. This means that Val Gardena now has its first chance to secure the first championship title in the club’s history in the Alps Hockey League on Saturday in Wolkenstein.
