Alpshl: The Zeller Eisbären have a new captain!

Head coach Marcel Rodman has determined the captain and his assistants for the coming season today. Max Wilfan will carry the “C” on the chest in the future, supported by Tyler Cuma, Leon Widhalm and Nick Huard.

It was one of the open questions in this preparation: Who will be the new captain of the Zeller Eisbären and thus succeed Robin Johansson and Hubert Berger? Today Marcel Rodman decided on Max Wilfan and announced his decision on lunch for the team. The Assistant Captains are Tyler Cuma, Leon Widhalm and Nick Huard.

Max Wilfan moved to Zell am See in the summer of 2024 and is the most successful Austrian player in the Alps Hockey League. He has been there since the league was founded, leads the league to the goal participations and won the title last year in his first season in the blue and yellow jersey. Especially in the playoffs, he convinced with 12 scorer points in 13 games and had a large part in the success of the polar bears.

Wilfan captivates on the ice with his experience, game intelligence and his pronounced torriach. He often recognizes game situations before they arise and his passing game is excellent. The family man also convinces apart from the ice: reflected, reliable and far -sighted – characteristics that make it an ideal leader. In Zell am See he steps into the footsteps of his brother Franz, who was captain of the polar bears until 2020. Wilfan already knows the role from his time in Lustenau and will certainly fill it out in Zell.

Tyler CumaThe defense chief is not too good for any dirty work and always puts himself in service of the team. His international experience, his routine and the fact that he already acted as an assistant captain in the master season make him a logical choice.

Leon Widhalmthe bundle of energy par excellence, embodies the polar bear style like no other with its tireless will. At the age of just 22, he will wear the “A” at all away games – an honor that he has more than earned through his exemplary attitude.

Nick Huard will run as the second assistant captain at home games. The Canadian is one of the most important players in the team, an absolute top performer who regularly brings spell on ice. In character, he is someone who never gives up, always stays positive and has long since become a crowd favorite in Pinzgau.
