This Saturday is the starting signal for the tenth season of the Alps Hockey League. At the start, five games are on the program, including the final new edition between the EK Zeller Eisbären and HDD Jesenice. On Sunday, the duel between HC Meran/O Pircher and SG Cortina Hafro rounds off the first matchday.
In the Alps Hockey League season 2025/26, all games are broadcast live on www.valace.
The Rittner Buam Skyalps open the AHL anniversary season with a home game (6 p.m.) against HC Asiago-a traditional derby between two of the most successful ice hockey locations in Italy. In the previous nine AHL sockets, teams from Klobenstein and Asiago each secured the title twice. Most recently, Ritten and Asiago met in preparation, at that time the team of neo-coach Dave Macqueen kept the upper hand with 4: 3.
From 7 p.m. the hockey Unterland Cavaliers and the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan are facing each other. In the past season, the last two meetings went to the Broncos from Sterzing. The Red Bull Hockey Juniors and Khl Sisak start the new season at 7.15 p.m. In three encounters so far, the away team has always prevailed.
Two other games follow at 7.30 p.m.: The Kitzbühel Stadtwerke welcomes HC Val Gardena – both teams celebrated four victories in the Preseason. At the same time, there is the final new edition: the EK Zeller Eisbären starts the anniversary season as a hunt. The team remained in preparation without victory, but in view of the strong opponent, this does not cause any unrest internally. With Jesenice, a real endurance test is waiting in the first game: with Nik Zupancic there is a routine coach on the gang of Slovenes. The stage for another top duel is prepared.
Sunday game rounds off the first match day
At the end of the opening weekend, the HC Meran/O Pircher will receive the SG Cortina Hafro on Sunday. The South Tyroleans won only one of five test games, while Cortina won three out of four games. The younger record also speaks for the guests: four of the last five direct duels were decided with just one goal difference – always in favor of Cortinas.
