KHL Sisak prevailed against Rittner Buam SkyAlps for the second time within 24 hours. After the 5:4 SO success on Saturday evening, the Croatians also won the second game of the Ritten double with the same result after a shootout. With this victory, Sisak remains close on the heels of the league leaders from Salzburg.
In front of 1,513 spectators in the Ledena Dvorana Zibel, the guests got off to a better start and were already leading 3-0 after the first third. Brandon Alderson and Jacob Crespi scored twice for the Buam, who acted ice-cold in this phase. But Sisak showed great morale and turned the game around in the second period.
Dominic Canic put the home team on the scoreboard with his goal before Vito Idzan equalized in the power play and Bohdan Panasenko with a double strike. Ritten was able to provide another lead through Brett Welychka, but Danila Larionovs made it 4-4 in the final third and forced overtime.
After extra time remained goalless, Marijus Dumcius became the match winner in the penalty shootout and secured Sisak the extra point. Head coach Josh Siembida’s team thus consolidated second place in the table behind the Red Bull Hockey Juniors.
