The Red Bull Hockey Juniors remain on the road to success and are keeping close contact with the top of the Alps Hockey League table after a clear 5-1 home win against EC Bregenzerwald. With 17 points from nine games, head coach Teemu Levijoki’s team is only one point behind leader KHL Sisak and has thus consolidated second place.
Visiting the Eisarena Salzburg, EC Bregenzerwald got off to a better start and took the lead after just 86 seconds thanks to Toivo Laaksonen. However, the home team’s response was quick: Maxim Eliseev scored in the power play to make it 1-1, before the 22-year-old Russian turned the game around with his second goal in the first third.
The Juniors increasingly controlled the game and extended their lead to 4-1 in the middle period with goals from Florian Lanzinger and Mathias Böhm. In the final third, Nick Maul put the final point with his goal to make the final score 5-1.
For Salzburg it was the fifth win of the season in the ninth game – and the third success in a row. While the Juniors continue to put pressure on league leaders Sisak, EC Bregenzerwald remains in second-to-last place after their seventh defeat (12th place, nine points).
