The traditional duel between HC Migross Asiago and SG Cortina Hafro celebrates its comeback in the Alps Hockey League on Thursday after a break of several years. There are a total of five games on the program – including the local derby between EK Zeller Eisbären and Adlern Stadtwerke Kitzbühel.
7:30 p.m. | EK Zeller Eisbären – Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel
The reigning champions, the EK Zeller Eisbären, have not yet fully arrived in the new season. After three wins in a row, the Eisbären had to admit defeat in the home game against Bregenzerwald. Salzburg are currently in sixth place in the table, but have played at least two games less than most other teams – including Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel, who are four points ahead and in fourth place with two games more. Two of the last three direct duels this calendar year – in the preseason – went into overtime.
7:30 p.m. | HDD Jesenice – Red Bull Hockey Juniors
The HDD Jesenice will face a tough challenge on Thursday. The Slovenians, currently seventh in the table, host the second-placed Red Bull Hockey Juniors. Both teams were able to score a maximum of points in their last three games. Last season, all direct duels went to Jesenice – although two of them only took place after extra time.
8:00 p.m. | HC Migross Asiago – SG Cortina Hafro
HC Migross Asiago welcomes SG Cortina Hafro for a duel with a great tradition. The last time the two teams faced each other in the Alps Hockey League was more than three and a half years ago – Asiago was playing in the ICE Hockey League in the meantime. There was already a reunion in the preseason, in which Asiago won 3-1. The yellow-reds are also just ahead of Cortina in the current table.
8:00 p.m. | Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan – KHL Sisak
The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan welcome league leaders KHL Sisak. The Broncos have played seven games so far this season and won four of them. In order to stay in touch with the top teams, points are urgently needed. Sisak has won seven of his nine games so far this season.
8:30 p.m. | HC Meran/o Pircher – Hockey Unterland Cavaliers
The South Tyrolean duel between HC Meran/o Pircher and the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers is a meeting between two teams from the bottom half of the table. While the Cavaliers have only collected four points so far and are in danger of losing contact with the midfield, Meran/o has at least won four of its nine previous matches.
