AlpsHL preview: The basic round is entering the home straight!

Between three and five games are scheduled for each team in the basic round of the Alps Hockey League before the field is divided into the Master Round and Qualification Round. While three teams have already qualified for the playoffs, the remaining teams are now entering the decisive phase of the basic round. HC Migross Asiago can take an important step towards the playoffs in the top game against the Red Bull Hockey Juniors.

KHL Sisak – SG Cortina Hafro

The KHL Sisak can no longer be pushed out of the top 5 since Tuesday and is therefore firmly in the Master Round or the Alps Hockey League playoffs. SG Cortina Hafro, on the other hand, will have to continue its path through the qualification round. Nevertheless, this encounter is about important bonus points for both teams and thus a better starting position for the second round. However, SG Cortina Hafro won the two previous season duels – both times after penalty shootouts.

HC Migross Asiago – Red Bull Hockey Juniors

HC Migross Asiago is the fourth team just shy of making it to the playoffs, but definitely cannot secure it on Thursday – even if they manage to get three points against league leaders Red Bull Hockey Juniors. The Juniors were the first team to win their playoff ticket and are now fighting to defend their pole position until the Master Round. The Juniors won the two duels of the season so far. They scored seven goals each in both games.

Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan – HC Meran/o Pircher

The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan still have a mathematical chance of qualifying for the Master Round, but they would need an almost perfect five remaining matches and would also be dependent on help from other teams. Meran is currently in tenth place and therefore out of reach for the Master Round. The previous two duels between the teams went confidently to the Broncos.

Hockey Unterland Cavaliers – EK Die Zeller Eisbären

The EK Die Zeller Eisbären has been in the Master Round since Tuesday and therefore also in the playoffs. They qualified as the third team for the postseason and are now fighting for important bonus points for the Master Round. The Hockey Unterland Cavaliers, on the other hand, are still at the bottom of the table and will definitely end the regular season with the “red lantern”.
