This Sunday there are six games on the program in the Alps Hockey League. While league leaders KHL Sisak travels to Asiago, the reigning champions EK Zeller Eisbären are challenged at HDD Jesenice. In addition, the duel between Rittner Buam and Kitzbühel will see two top 5 teams meet.
HC Migross Asiago – KHL Sisak
After three defeats in a row, Asiago returned to success on Friday with a win in Kitzbühel – an important success in the race for the top 5. Sisak recently celebrated two wins in a row and returned to the top of the table. In the direct duels so far this season, both teams won away from home.
HDD Jesenice – EK The Zell Polar Bears
Jesenice has recently been in improving form with victories over the top teams Sisak and Ritten and is currently in tenth place. Zell am See, on the other hand, suffered two defeats in a row, but is still in third place in the table. The Pinzgauers won the last five direct encounters, including a narrow 4:3 at the start of the season.
Rittner Buam SkyAlps – Stadtwerke Kitzbühel
Fifth against fourth: Ritten welcomes the team from Kitzbühel in Klobenstein. The Buam are in strong form and have won four of the last five games, including a clear 5-1 at Bregenzerwald. The Tyroleans arrive with some personnel concerns, but were able to win both duels of the season so far – each with a three-goal lead.
Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan – SG Cortina Hafro
Vipiteno gained self-confidence on Friday with a 4-3 win in Zell am See. Things are currently going even better at Cortina: The blue-whites celebrated six wins in a row and are in eighth place – three points ahead of the Broncos. In the season duels so far the score is 1:1, with both teams winning at home.
HC Gherdeina valgardena.it – EC Bregenzerwald
Bregenzerwald missed out on making it into the top 5 due to the home defeat against Ritten. In the last five games, the team from Vorarlberg alternated between victory and defeat. After a good run with two successes in the 1:4 in Sisak, Val Gardena recently suffered another setback and is currently in eleventh place. It is the third meeting in just under three weeks – so far the home team has won each time.
HC Meran/o Pircher – Hockey Unterland Cavaliers
At Meran, victory and defeat regularly alternate in the last seven games. On Friday the Adler Cortina had to admit defeat in the shootout. Now the penultimate team welcomes bottom team Unterland. The Cavaliers have scored points in their last three meetings, but have lost two of them. This season, both teams celebrated an away win in a direct duel.
