AlpsHL preview: Showdown in the qualifying rounds!

There are seven games on the program in the Alps Hockey League from Tuesday to Thursday. The outstanding decisions regarding the pre-playoff participants will be made in the two qualifying groups. While three teams are fighting for two places in Qualification Round A, there will be a showdown between Bregenzerwald and Jesenice in Qualification Round B.

Master Round
Wed, February 25, 2026

6:00 p.m.: Red Bull Hockey Juniors – KHL Sisak
Referees: Orel, Winkler, Preiser, Rinker
The Juniors alternated victory and defeat in the first four games of the Master Round, most recently Salzburg celebrated a 3-1 win in Vipiteno. They are currently in second place, four points ahead of Sisak, who have played one game less. The Croatians won their opening duel in the second round 4-0 against the Juniors, but then had to admit defeat twice. Overall, Sisak won three of the four duels of the season so far.

Thu, February 26, 2026
8:00 p.m.: Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan – EK Die Zeller Eisbären
Referees: Hlavatý, Unterweger, Divis, Veselka
Vipiteno only got one win from the first five games of the Master Round and is in fifth and last place. Zell am See, on the other hand, has won all four matches so far – including a clear 7-2 home win against Wipptaler. The Eisbären also left the ice as winners in each of the last five guest games in Vipiteno.

Qualification Round A
Thu, February 26, 2026
8:30 p.m.: Hockey Unterland Cavaliers – HC Meran/o Pircher
Referees: Pine, Virta, Cristeli, Ilmer
On Saturday, Meran secured its ticket for the pre-playoffs with a 4-2 win against Unterland. Due to this defeat, the Cavaliers can no longer make it to the next round on their own. They need a win on Thursday and are dependent on the result of the parallel game in Qualification Round A. If they were tied on points with Kitzbühel, the Cavaliers would have the better direct duel, but if they were tied with Cortina, Unterland would lose out.

Thu, February 26, 2026
8:30 p.m.: SG Cortina Hafro – Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel
Referees: Leben, Rivis, Arlic, Rivis
A few days ago, Kitzbühel won its home game against Cortina 6:3 after a quick 2-0 deficit. This means the Tyroleans improved to second place, while Cortina is two points behind. With a win, Cortina would be qualified for the pre-playoffs; a point win is enough for the home team. Kitzbühel has won two of the last three away games in Cortina.

Qualification Round B
Tue, February 24, 2026
20:30: HC Gherdeina valgardena.it – HDD Jesenice
Referees: Huber, Stefenelli, Callovini, Strimitzer
Val Gardena has won all four games so far in Qualification Round B and – like Ritten – is already qualified for the pre-playoffs. Jesenice is currently in fourth and last place. The Slovenians are now playing a decisive away double in Val Gardena and at EC Bregenzerwald. With a win on Tuesday they could improve their starting position before the showdown the following day. Most recently, Val Gardena celebrated a 2-0 shutout in Slovenia.

Wed, February 25, 2026
7:30 p.m.: EC Bregenzerwald – HDD Jesenice
Referees: Holzer, Lazzeri, Abeltino, Brondi
It is the direct duel for the last pre-playoff place in Qualification Round B. The starting position could change due to Jesenice’s game on Tuesday. In the first meeting in the second round, the Slovenians won 6-0 and would have the advantage in a direct comparison if they were level on points with the ECB. The last three duels in Dornbirn each ended with just one goal difference, and Jesenice prevailed twice.

Thu, February 26, 2026
20:30: HC Gherdeina valgardena.it – Rittner Buam SkyAlps
Referees: Benvegnu, Moschen, Fecchio, Grisenti
Val Gardena could secure first place in Qualification Round B with a win after regular time on Tuesday. If this does not succeed, there will be a direct duel for first place against the second-placed Rittner Buam. In the most recent comparison, Val Gardena prevailed 3-2.

All games will be broadcast live on Valcome.TV.
