AlpsHL preview: Another six games before the weekend!

The 6th round of the Alps Hockey League is on the program on Thursday and Friday. Among other things, there will be the Salzburg derby between the Red Bull Hockey Juniors and EK Die Zeller Eisbären as well as the South Tyrol derby between the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan and HC Gherdeina valgardena.it. League leaders KHL Sisak will be visiting the fourth-place team, the Rittner Buam SkyAlps.

The Red Bull Hockey Juniors are in sixth place with eight points, while defending champions EK Die Zeller Eisbären are in eighth place with six points. The team from Pinzgau has only played three times so far and has won two games. They only had to admit defeat in Val Gardena. The Juniors have won two of their five games so far, but have only suffered one defeat after 60 minutes. Last season, Zell am See won two of the three derbies.

Before the Juniors game, the “Polar Bears” strengthened themselves with Blaz Tomazevic, who will replace the injured Nick Huard. The 27-year-old has already been on the ice for Jesenice three times this season. The striker previously played for Villach and Ljubljana in the win2day ICE Hockey League for three years. South Tyrol derby between Vipiteno and Val Gardena
A real top game and derby at the same time takes place in Vipiteno on Thursday. Second-placed Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan, who are level on points with leader Sisak, host fifth-placed HC Gherdeina valgardena.it, who are only two points behind. Val Gardena is currently in strong form with two home wins in a row against defending champion Zell am See (3:1) and leader Sisak (2:1). Both teams met twice in preparation for the season – with two clear victories for Vipiteno (5:2, 7:3). Last season, the Broncos had the upper hand in four of five duels.

Ritten welcomes league leader Sisak
In another top game, the fourth-placed Rittner Buam SkyAlps meet league leaders KHL Sisak. The Croatians are currently only one point ahead of “Buam”, who have already played one more game. On Tuesday, Ritten celebrated a 3-0 home win against Jesenice, its third win in its sixth game. Sisak recently suffered a 1-2 defeat in Val Gardena – the first of the current season. With 20 goals scored, Sisak and Kitzbühel have the best offense in the league. Defensively, the Croatians are also at the top of the league with only seven goals conceded. Ritten has so far scored 17 goals and conceded 14 goals. Last season Ritten won two of the three direct duels.

Cortina against Meran – conclusion on Thursday
In the fourth and final Thursday game, SG Cortina Hafro meets HC Meran/o Pircher. In terms of the table, it is the duel between the seventh place (SGC) and the eleventh place (HCM) – both teams are separated by three points. At the start of the season, the teams met in Meran, where Cortina won 3-0. Most recently, both teams suffered a defeat: Cortina lost 3:4 in Sterzing, Meran lost 2:5 in Bregenzerwald and suffered their second defeat in a row.

Two games on Friday: Jesenice welcomes Kitzbühel
There are two games on the program on Friday. HDD Jesenice meets Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel. Last year’s finalist from Slovenia is not in top form so far – only one of five games was won. On Tuesday Jesenice lost 3-0 in Ritten. Kitzbühel started the season strongly with three wins from five games and is in third place in the table with ten points. The Tyroleans recently celebrated a 5-2 home win against Ritten. However, the “Adlers” are still waiting for their first win away (1:2 @ECB, 2:3/SO @SGC).

Asiago against Bregenzerwald – conclusion of the 6th round
The conclusion of the 6th round is the encounter between HC Migross Asiago and EC Bregenzerwald. Asiago was already in action against Unterland during the week and celebrated a 4-1 home win – their second win of the season. Bregenzerwald was also able to achieve two wins this season, most recently with home wins against Meran (5:2) and Kitzbühel (2:1). The Vorarlbergers are ninth in the table, directly ahead of Asiago.
