Jesenice won the first victory of the new Alps Hockey League season on Friday evening. After the narrow 3: 4 defeat at the start of the EK Zeller Eisbären, the Slovenes prevailed 3-0 against the EC Bregenzerwald at home.
In front of 350 spectators, Jesenice set the course for success in the first third: Erik Svetetina scored for the lead, just two minutes later Sodja increased Zalokar to 2-0. The ECB fought back into the game, but left its possibilities unused. Jesenice stayed without a hit in the special teams, but showed a strong defensive performance outnumbered.
In the final section, Bregenzerwald tried to build up pressure again, but in the last minute Bine Tomazevic provided the final score with an Empty-Net goal. The team of Head Coach Nik Zupančič celebrated the first full success of the season, while the Vorarlbergers have to wait for the first points.
