Adolf Insam, one of the most formative personalities of Italian ice hockey, becomes part of the staff of HC Asiago. With him, a living legend comes to the club that has been the history of ice hockey in Italy for decades.
The Insam, born in Wolkenstein (Val Gardena), looks back on an impressive career. As a player, he won four championship titles with HC Gherdëina and completed 185 missions for the Italian national team, in which he scored 62 goals. He experienced his sporty highlight at the 1984 Olympic Games in Sarajevo, who was also on the ice.
After his active career, Insam immediately made its way as a trainer. From 1986 he looked after several teams – including HC Selva, HC Appiano and HC Gherdeina – before he took over HC Bolzano in 1996 and won the championship title in his first season. Between 1997 and 2000 he also stood as a head coach on the gang of the Italian national team after working as an assistant coach for several years.
Insam celebrated his most successful era as a coach of the Milano Vipers (2000–2005). With the Milanese, he dominated the national scene and collected five championship titles in a row, plus two Italy trophies and three supercups. Other stations led him back to Bolzano, where he won another Scudetto in 2012, and Hockey Milano Rossoblu.
In 2015, Insam moved to management and took over the sporting direction of Ritten Sport. There he significantly shaped the development of the club for eight years. During this time, Ritten won the Alps Hockey League, four Italian championship titles and three supercups.
With this impressive vita, ANSMAL is now facing a new task: As a sporty and organizational consultant, he will support HC Asiago in the future and should lead it up again in the restart in the Alpshl.
Adolf Insam on his new role: “I have accepted the association’s request with great enthusiasm. In Asiago you can already feel the passion for ice hockey on the first contact. I found a highly motivated and professional environment in which it will be easy to achieve our goals together.”
