AlpsHL: Home wins for Zell am See and Red Bull Juniors!

The Red Bull Hockey Juniors beat Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel 4-3 in the top game and are back at the top. Meanwhile, the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers and HC Meran/o caused surprises, winning over Cortina and Ritten respectively. The Broncos, Zell and Asiago also celebrated victories, the latter in overtime.

Red Bull Hockey Juniors win top game against Kitzbühel

The Red Bull Hockey Juniors celebrated a hard-fought 4-3 victory in the top game against Kitzbühel. The Juniors took the lead in front of their home crowd in the fifth minute. Kitzbühel turned the game around in the first half and went into the first break with a 2-1 lead. The Juniors initially managed to equalize in the middle third before Kitzbühel took the lead again. However, the young team from Salzburg equalized in the middle section. In the final third, Florian Lanzinger finally made the decision and thus the Red Bull Hockey Juniors’ lead in the table.

Broncos need 40 strong minutes to win

The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan celebrated a 4:3 victory over HDD Jesenice. The hosts were already leading 4-0 after 40 minutes. The guests from Slovenia fought their way to 3:4 in the final section with three goals within ten minutes. However, Jesenice was no longer able to score the equalizer. Thanks to this success, Wipptal is back within reach of the top 5.

Merano defeats Ritten

HC Meran caused a surprise with a victory over Rittner Buam SkyAlps. The eleventh-placed South Tyroleans defeated Ritten 2-1 away. After a goalless starting third, Jakob Fuchs gave his team the lead in the middle period. Meran then defended its lead well and scored the decision with an empty net goal just over a minute before the end. Ritten managed to score the next goal, but there was no longer enough time for extra time.

Zell remains within striking distance of the top duo

The EK Die Zeller Eisbären won the home game against EC Bregenzerwald 4-2. However, the guests from Vorarlberg got off to a much better start, going into the first break with a 2-0 lead. In the middle period, however, Zell stepped up a gear and scored four goals within ten minutes – three of them on the power play and one while shorthanded.

Asiago wrestles Gherdeina down in extra time

HC Migross Asiago celebrated a 3-2 overtime win in the home game against Hockey Club Gherdeina. The guests got off to a better start, taking the lead in the second minute. In the middle period, however, Asiago turned the game around to a 2-1 lead. Gherdeina fought his way into extra time, but Ryan Valentini made the decision with his second goal of the evening.

Hockey Unterland Cavaliers end negative series

After five defeats in a row, the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers returned to winning ways. Although Cortina had more of the game from the start, the guests scored the first goal. After the first period it was 2:2. In the second third, Unterland went ahead again and Cortina equalized four minutes before the end. When most people were already expecting overtime, Alexander Sullmann Pilser scored the game-winning goal.
