At the start of the second round, the Rittner Buam SkyAlps celebrated a 3-2 win at EC Bregenzerwald on Wednesday. After four league defeats, the South Tyroleans returned to winning ways in the first game under new head coach Mike Halmo and took the lead in Qualification Round B.
After an even opening phase, the guests took the lead after ten minutes: Kostner poked the target over the line – it was the only goal in the first third. Shortly after the restart, Haiböck deflected in for a deserved equalizer. The Vorarlbergers were unable to capitalize on two power plays before Fink scored from a rebound to give Rittner the lead again. In the 32nd minute, the South Tyroleans exploited their first power play when Alderson made it 3-1 with a powerful shot. Bergström brought the ECB closer again in the final phase of the middle period, he scored from the slot into the short corner. In the first game under Mike Halmo, the guests finally managed to keep their narrow lead over time – also because EC Bregenzerwald couldn’t take advantage of their opportunities. The fourth duel of the season between both teams ended with an away win, and Ritten also took the lead in the table in Qualification Round B.
