EC Bregenzerwald continued its successful run on Wednesday with a 3-1 home win against the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. For the Vorarlbergers, who climbed to fourth place in the table, it was the fifth win in a row. Sterzing, on the other hand, had to admit defeat for the fifth time in a row and is currently only in eleventh place.
The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan initially took the lead in the sixth minute through James Livingston in a very entertaining game. But the home team already had the perfect answer in the ninth minute and equalized through Philip Metzler. It remained 1-1 until the 29th minute before ECB top scorer Roberts Lipsbergs took the lead in a very impressive number of points – it was the Latvian’s ninth goal of the season. Shortly before the end of the middle period, Tobias Metzler-Wagner even increased the score to 3:1. In the final third, Sterzing tried everything again, but there was no getting past Bregenzerwald goalkeeper Lorenz Widhalm. In the end, the goalie saved 45 shots on goal.
