The Alps Hockey League was informed of racist insults from the stands towards players of the visiting team during the sixth quarter-final game. This comes from the official report from the match supervisor and was also confirmed by the home team.
The Alps Hockey League strongly condemns these incidents and firmly distances itself from any form of racism, xenophobia and discrimination. The case has already been handed over to the responsible legal commission and is being examined in accordance with the applicable regulations. Regardless of the outcome of this process, the Alps Hockey League, together with HC Gherdeina, clearly stands for respect, diversity and cohesion.
As a multinational league, it is a symbol of cross-border cooperation and mutual appreciation. Back in February, the league sent a clear signal for these values with the “No Borders. Just Alps” campaign.
Nicolas Stockhammer (BOG Chairman): “There is no place for racism and discrimination in our league. The Alps Hockey League stands for respect, diversity and cohesion across all borders. We will consistently pursue such incidents and take a clear stand against them.”
