KHL Sisak celebrated an impressive comeback victory in Asiago and defended its lead in the Alps Hockey League. The pursuers Red Bull Hockey Juniors, Rittner Buam SkyAlps and Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel also remained victorious, while HDD Jesenice continued its successful streak. After nine defeats in a row against Zell am See, EC Bregenzerwald also prevailed against the reigning champions.
KHL Sisak was down 2-0 early in Asiago and 3-1 at the first break. In the middle section, the Croatians equalized with a double strike. In the 51st minute, Panasenko gave the guests their first lead with his second goal of the evening, which Larionov extended shortly afterwards. Although Parco made the encounter exciting again, Sisak ultimately prevailed 5:4 and defended his top position.
Less than 24 hours after the home win against Bregenzerwald, the Red Bull Hockey Juniors were back on the ice. On Saturday they celebrated a clear 4-1 win in Vipiteno. Nick Maul gave Salzburg an early lead before the Wipptal Broncos equalized through Davide Conci. The guests then took command: League top scorer Maxim Eliseev scored twice in the middle period and completed the hat trick with his third goal in the final third. The Juniors remain second in the table.
The Rittner Buam SkyAlps celebrated their third win within a week against HC Meran and maintained third place. After goals from Rein and Trivellato, the guests from Meran were 2-0 ahead after around 23 minutes. In the power play, Manuel Öhler scored the next goal in the middle section. In the final third, coach Dave MacQueen’s team pushed for an equalizer for a long time in vain before Welychka made it 2-2 in a power play around five minutes before the end. Shortly afterwards, Madsen scored the celebrated winning goal.
Kitzbühel and Cortina fought a varied duel. After a goalless first third, the hosts took the lead before Cortina turned the game around in the middle period with goals from Fortunato and Remolato. As soon as the final third had opened, Lippitsch equalized in the power play after just twelve seconds. A little later, Krainz made it 3-2 for Kitzbühel – a result that lasted until the final siren.
After the clear defeat against the Red Bull Hockey Juniors, EC Bregenzerwald continued their road trip with EK Zeller Eisbären – with success. After two goalless periods, Tim Coffman gave the home team the lead on a power play in the 50th minute in front of almost 2,00 fans. In the final phase, however, Bregenzerwald turned the game around: Alexander Tell scored twice in the 52nd and 55th minutes and initiated the turnaround. In the last minute, Ben Summer made it 3-1 with a goal into the empty net.
HDD Jesenice celebrated its third win in a row. With a clear 5-1 win over Val Gardena, the Slovenians inflicted their third defeat in a row on the South Tyroleans. Bohinc gave the home team the lead in the first third. After Schiavone’s equalizer in the meantime, Jesenice pulled away to 4-1 in the middle period – Svetina, being outnumbered, already made the preliminary decision. In the final third, Jenko made the final score 5-1 on a power play.
