AlpsHL: Bregenzerwald is in the pre-playoffs!

EC Bregenzerwald won the showdown for third place in Qualification Round B against HDD Jesenice 5:3 and thus qualified for the pre-playoffs. For last year’s finalist Jesenice, however, the season is over. In addition, the Red Bull Hockey Juniors narrowly won 3-2 against KHL Sisak in the Master Round.

In an extremely varied game, Jesenice took the lead after just 18 seconds, but Bregenzerwald was not shocked and equalized in the second minute through Roberts Lipsbergs. In the end, the Latvian was to become player of the game with three goals, after he also made the final score 3:2 and 5:3. In the meantime, Bregenzerwald was in the lead after nine minutes, but the guests equalized in the 24th minute. After the 3-2 win for Bregenzerwald, last year’s finalist – who needed a win after regular time – had no answer, which meant that the 1,000 fans in Dornbirn were able to celebrate their pre-playoff entry at the end.

Juniors with a narrow home win against Sisak
In the second game of the day, the Red Bull Hockey Juniors secured a narrow 3-2 home win against KHL Sisak, which means that Salzburg, second in the table, is now seven points ahead of third-placed Sisak and only two points behind leaders Zell am See. The player of the game was Jesse Juhola with a brace. The Finn scored both the 2-0 and the 3-2 game winner, this only two and a half minutes before the end of the game, after the Croatians had previously equalized 0-2.
