Unfortunately, the initial fears have been confirmed – Alois Schultes suffered a lower body injury in the game against Cortina on Tuesday and will not be available for the Eisbären in the next few weeks. Martin Reder is moving from Black Wings Linz to Pinzgau for him!
Alois Schultes, who had a great performance on Tuesday but had to be taken off the ice by the rescue team in the 52nd minute of the game, will not be available to the Eisbären in the next few weeks. The 24-year-old Zeller is spared an operation, but our number #31 Eisbären head coach Marcel Rodman will not be available for the next 6 to 7 weeks.
Those responsible for the sport reacted immediately and were able to guide Martin Reder from the Black Wings Linz to Pinzgau. Reder comes to the Zeller Eisbären via a B license.
STATEMENTS
Polar Bears GF Patrick Schwarz: “On the one hand, I personally feel very sorry for Alois, as he put in a strong performance in all the games he played in this year and radiated a lot of calm and security to those in front of him. Alois now needs the necessary time and rest to recover from his injury and he will get that from us. He is a Zeller and will play and win enough games for the EKZ – the most important thing is that he is fit, comes back healthy and athletic, just as strong as when he left the ice. With Martin Reder we were able to attract a very talented goalkeeper to our organization. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jürgen Penker and Phil Lukas in particular for the quick implementation, the very good cooperation and, above all, the friendly and appreciative transaction.”
Jürgen Penker goalkeeper coach of the Black Wings: “I’m of course sorry that Alois Schultes was injured, but for Martin the opportunity to come to Zell am See is a cool story. Especially at this point in time – he himself is coming back from an injury, he recently played U20 and will play again today in Linz U20. He was also substituted on away against Laibach in the ICEHL this year. In summary, a perfect time to gain experience in Zell now. I am convinced that that he is ready to perform well and I am looking forward to him getting a few games in the Alps Hockey League and being able to help you continue to work successfully.”
CAREER
Martin Reder was born in Wels – Upper Austria in 2005. He came to the Black Wings Linz youth team via EC Wels. He celebrated his debut in the Alps Hockey League for the Upper Austrians in 2022. “Reds”, as his friends call him, has been a member of various U-selections of the Austrian national team for years and was even nominated to the A squad for the first time by Roger Bader last season for a preparatory camp. Reder has also been used a few times in the ICEHL, most recently last week against Olimpija Ljubljana. In recent years, Reder has mainly been active in the Austria U20i League, where he is one of the top goalies in the International Youth League with a catch rate of 93.8%.
