The Red Bull Hockey Juniors clearly won against EC Bregenzerwald on Saturday and further extended their lead in the Alps Hockey League. While Asiago narrowly held its own in the top game against Zell am See, Kitzbühel returned to the top 5 in head coach Rob Daum’s debut. Bottom team Unterland also enjoyed their first shutout of the season.
EC Bregenzerwald – Red Bull Hockey Juniors 2:6 (0:5, 1:0, 1:1)
The Juniors celebrated their third win in a row and thus further extended their lead in the table. In the first third, Eliseev, Lanzinger, Bloch, Auer and Oberhauser secured a comfortable 5-0 lead in front of over 1,500 spectators. In the second period, Bregenzerwald shortened the lead through Kramer before Grasser made it 2:5 shortly before the end. Eliseev set the final point with his second goal in the power play to make the final score 6:2.
HC Migross Asiago – EK Die Zeller Eisbären 4:3 (2:0, 0:2, 2:1)
Almost 2,700 fans were treated to a lot in the top game. Asiago got off to a dream start with goals from Johnson and Calisti, but the reigning champions hit back in the middle period and made it 2-2. In the final third, Asiago took the lead again before Uschan equalized again. Porco’s power play goal finally decided the game. With their fifth AHL win in a row, Asiago took a big step towards the Master Round.
Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel – SG Cortina Hafro 5:1 (1:1, 3:0, 1:0)
Almost 1,100 fans saw a confident Kitzbühel home win on head coach Rob Daum’s debut. The home team took the lead early through Fröwis before Cortina equalized in the power play through Pompanin. In the middle third, three goals within ten minutes ensured the preliminary decision, Podlipnik made the final score in the 57th minute. With their fourth home win in a row, Kitzbühel climbed back into the top five.
Hockey Unterland Cavaliers – Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan 4:0 (0:0, 0:0, 4:0)
In the third duel of the season, Unterland achieved their first win against Vipiteno. The bottom team started strongly, but initially failed to take advantage of their chances. The game remained goalless until the 44th minute before Erik Potsinok scored a flawless hat trick within ten minutes and decided the game. Twin brother Marek Potsinok made the final score 4-0. Goalie Tizian Giovanelli shone with 29 saves and gave Unterland its first shutout of the season.
