AlpsHL: Asiago clearly defeats the league leaders | Zell wins in Jesenice!

In front of almost 3,000 spectators, Asiago easily defeated league leader Sisak 5-1 on Sunday. Ritten won the top 5 duel against Kitzbühel. While Zell am See returned to winning ways, Vipiteno ended Cortina’s successful run. Val Gardena and Meran also celebrated home victories.

HC Migross Asiago – KHL Sisak 5:1 (1:0, 3:1, 1:0)
With a convincing home win in front of 2,900 spectators against the league leaders, Asiago stayed in touch with the top five. Garau gave the Italians an early lead, but Sisak equalized in the middle period. The home team responded with three goals and moved ahead to 4-1 by the second break. In the 51st minute, Garau made the final decision with his second goal – for Asiago it was the second success in a row against a top 5 team.

HDD Jesenice – EK Die Zeller Eisbären 2:3 (1:0, 0:2, 1:1)
In a balanced, hard-fought game, the reigning champions impressed above all with their strong defense and efficient use of opportunities. After the hosts took the lead through Zajc (16th), Zauner equalized in the middle section, shortly afterwards Rupnik put the Eisbären in front. In the final third, the guests defended their narrow lead and increased it to 3-1 shortly before the end through Stiegler. Jesenice shortened the gap, but Zell’s victory was no longer in danger.

Rittner Buam SkyAlps – Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel 4:2 (2:1, 1:0, 1:1)
In an intense first third, Ritten set the stage with a power play goal from Kostner. Although Kitzbühel managed to equalize, the home team went into the first break with a 2-1 lead. Fink increased the score to 3-1 in the middle third before Loshing added excitement with his second goal in the final period. In the final seconds, Fink scored into the empty goal to make the final score. Ritten thus drew level with the Tyroleans, who were still in fourth place, in terms of points.

HC Gherdeina valgardena.it – EC Bregenzerwald 6:4 (3:1, 1:1, 2:2)
In front of over 1,400 spectators, Val Gardena got off to a strong start and was already leading 3-0 after 16 minutes. The Vorarlbergers shortened the score before the break and came closer in the middle section. In the final third, an open exchange of blows developed: first Guimond restored the three-goal lead, before Laaksonen created tension with a brace. Moncada finally sealed the home win with an empty net goal.

Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan – SG Cortina Hafro 5:2 (0:1, 5:0, 0:1)
Vipiteno impressively ended Cortina’s six-game winning streak. After falling behind early thanks to a power play goal from Massimo Pietroniro, the Broncos came back furiously in the second period and scored five times – Sproviero contributed a brace. In the end, the Wipptalers celebrated a clear 5-2 home win and overtook Cortina in the table. The Broncos are now in eighth place.

HC Meran/o Pircher – Hockey Unterland Cavaliers 6:1 (1:0, 2:1, 3:0)
Merano celebrated its biggest win of the season. Stefanson gave the home team the lead against the bottom team in the table, and the Eagles increased their lead to 3-1 in the middle period. In the final third, the hosts made everything clear and were able to celebrate goals from six different shooters. In the end there was a clear 6:1 win.
