It remained 2-1 until shortly before the end, before Polei deflected the puck from close range to equalize 36 seconds before the end. In extra time, the Slovenians had the better end for themselves: after just 55 seconds, Mahkovec won the puck in the attacking third and set it up for Petan, who just had to push in.
