Just yesterday, HC Bozen failed in the playoffs with a defeat against Olimpija Ljubljana. With a series score of 1:4 from the South Tyroleans’ point of view, they are now going on vacation – and therefore coach Doug Shedden is unlikely to return to Bolzano.
It’s been a disappointing season for the Foxes. After a solid 4th place in the basic round, the sixth-placed team from Laibach remained for the South Tyroleans after the playoff pick. Many expected an exciting, balanced series. In the end, the dragons won the series quite clearly with 4:1. Yesterday too, the Slovenians clearly won 1:4, led by a strong Tokarski in goal.
While the Ljubljana team are now firmly in the semi-finals, the criticism in Bolzano is getting bigger and bigger. Coach Doug Shedden in particular, who played in Italy almost three months ago, is not doing well. As “Sportnews” reports, the Canadian’s days at HCB could be numbered again. He is likely to leave the club due to the disappointing end to the season.
