After a narrow victory over HC Unterland: New leader in the AlpsHL!

On Thursday’s matchday in the Alps Hockey League, KHL Sisak narrowly beat Hockey Unterland and climbed back to the top of the table. The Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel also celebrated an overtime win against the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. At the end of the match day, HC Migross Asiago defeated Rittner Buam SkyAlps.

With a hard-fought 4:3 win against bottom team Hockey Unterland Cavaliers, the KHL Sisak can smile back at the top of the table – even if the Croatians have already played two more games than their pursuers Red Bull Hockey Juniors. Sisak got off to a lightning start and took the lead after just 27 seconds. The home team had more of the game and increased the lead to 2-0 in the middle third before Unterland was able to equalize in the same period. However, the final section once again belonged to Sisak, which meanwhile made it 4:2. The HCU managed to score the next goal, but it was no longer enough for extra time. Vito Idzan scored a brace.

Kitzbühel remains on the heels of the top duo

The Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel celebrated a 2-1 overtime home win against the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan and thus remain on the heels of the top duo. After a goalless starting third with a slight increase in chances for the guests, the Eagles took the lead early in the second period. In the final section, WSV managed to equalize. Both goalkeepers impressed in regular time and did not allow any further goals, so the decision had to be made in extra time. There it was defender Jacob Pfeffer who scored the winning goal. Kitzbühel’s gap to second-placed Red Bull Hockey Juniors is now just three points.

Asiago celebrates a confident home win against Ritten

There was also a home win in the third Thursday game of the Alps Hockey League. The HC Migross Asiago won confidently against the Rittner Buam SkyAlps 4-2 and established a connection with the top 4 teams. After a goalless first third, the guests from Ritten took the lead. Asiago’s response, however, followed immediately. Subsequently, two goals from a minority ensured the preliminary decision. Asiago already impressed in its victory against Gherdeina two days ago despite being numerically inferior – this feat has now been achieved again “back-to-back”.
