The St. Louis Blues offered the experienced wing striker Milan Lucic (37) a professional tryout contract (PTO) for the upcoming training camp. This was confirmed by the club on Tuesday.
Lucic, who has already completed 17 NHL season for the Boston Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames, returned to Boston in 2023/24. Under coach Jim Montgomery, who now stands behind the gang, the Canadian only came to four missions before taking a break for personal reasons.
In November 2023, Lucic joined the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program after being confronted with the accusation of assault in the course of a suspected domestic examination. The indictment was dropped later because his wife did not say. In the meantime, Lucic has been officially released by the league.
A PTO is not a guaranteed contract: If Lucic does not convince in terms of sport or do not fit into the squad structure, the blues can be released at any time. Nevertheless, his presence could heat the competition in the storm.
