In the semi-finals of
Optibet Hokeja League
a real scandal has occurred. In the fourth game of the series between
HK Mogo/RSU and the
Kyiv Capitals An unusual demolition caused a stir.
With the score at 5:2 for Mogo, the Kyiv Capitals left the ice together around twelve minutes before the end of the third period. The background was massive dissatisfaction with the referee’s performance. From the Capitals’ point of view, the game was unfairly refereed – a look at the statistics at least underlines the explosiveness: 73 penalty minutes against Kyiv compared to only 10 against Mogo. Mogo also scored all five goals on the power play.
After the game, the Capitals publicly vented their anger and described the encounter as a “referee win” – a victory for the referees.
The league considered leaving the field as a game abandonment to the Capitals’ disadvantage.
HK Mogo/RSU The victory was awarded, meaning the series is now level at 2:2.
