ÖEHV leader Thomas Raffl will be missing from this year’s Ice Hockey World Championships in Switzerland. The veteran canceled his participation for personal reasons, as the “Salzburger Nachrichten” reports.
Raffl and his wife are expecting their second child at the beginning of June, which is why the striker is not available to the national team this year. This is a painful loss for the ÖEHV, after all, the experienced attacker has been considered an important leader in recent years.
At the last four A World Championships, Raffl led the Austrian team onto the ice as captain. In total, he has already played over 200 international matches, making him one of the defining figures in the national team in recent years.
