After four years in the ÖEHV youth team: KAC striker is aiming for a change of nation!

Since 2021 he has been part of all youth national teams and was on the ice for the ÖEHV at two U18 and two U20 World Championships. But KAC striker Oliver Lam’s goal is to play at the Asian Games for his native Hong Kong.

KAC talent Oliver Lam ended his junior year with a sense of achievement. The Hong Kong-born attacker secured the championship title with the KAC U20 and was his team’s best Austrian scorer with 7 goals and 6 assists. After the defeat in the final last year, winning the title was a “perfect conclusion” to his youth career.

The 19-year-old has also been able to gain his first experience in the ICE Hockey League: Lam recorded one assist in 29 appearances. The season wasn’t always easy, but he still wanted to use the experience he gained to develop further. There are currently no concrete plans for the future at club level.

Hong Kong instead of Austria

In the long term, however, the striker could at least be drawn back to his country of birth internationally. The Hong Kong association has already shown interest in recruiting Lam for the Asian Games, as he confirmed to the “Kleine Zeitung”. Even if it hasn’t happened yet, the wish remains: One day the KAC player would like to play for Hong Kong – a special perspective for his future team career and a slap in the face for the ÖEHV, which took him into account in youth national teams for years.
