Olimpija Ljubljana became the third team to book its ticket to the semifinals of the win2day ICE Hockey League playoffs. The Dragons won 4-1 at HCB Südtirol Alperia and won the series after five games.
The Slovenians started the encounter hungrier. In the 13th minute, the Dragons were able to celebrate their lead: After a good forecheck from Robert Sabolic, Alex Petan fed Marcel Mahkovec, who coolly shot in to make it 1-0. In the final third, the South Tyroleans pushed for the equalizer and were able to celebrate this with a goal from Cristiano Digiacinto. But Ljubljana remained dangerous, waited for their chances and regained the lead with a breakaway completed by Zach Boychuk. Bozen put everything on one card in the final minutes and had to accept two empty net goals. Both Mahkovec and Boychuk scored twice. The Slovenian representative of the win2day ICE Hockey League won 4-1 and ended the Foxes’ season early. The opponent in the semifinal series still depends on the outcome of the series between KAC and Fehérvár.
