The Red Bull Hockey Juniors and HC Migross Asiago were able to avert the end of the season with clear home wins in their series and shorten it to 2:3. The Juniors defeated HC Gherdeina valgardena.it 9-2, game six follows on Sunday in Val Gardena. Asiago retained the upper hand against HC Meran/o Pircher with 6:2. Game six is scheduled for Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in Merano.
The Red Bull Hockey Juniors celebrated a brilliant 9:2 home win in game five of the quarterfinal series against HC Gherdeina valgardena.it and shortened the series to 2:3. On Sunday, however, the South Tyroleans have their next chance to secure their place in the semi-finals for the first time in front of their home crowd. The Juniors got off to a dream start and were comfortably leading 4-0 after just 13 minutes. After the first third it was 4-1 before Salzburg restored their four-goal lead in the 22nd minute. This time, Val Gardena’s defense couldn’t get the juniors’ strong offense under control, so Salzburg pulled ahead to 7-2 by the 48th minute. In the end it was a clear 9:2 win. The final point came from Maximilian Wurzer, who was the only player to score twice and also recorded two assists. For the first time in this series a game ended with a difference of more than one goal. It continues on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. with game six in Val Gardena.
Asiago wins second game in a row
Ryan Valentini shone with a hat trick in HC Migross Asiago’s clear 6-2 home win against HC Meran/o Pircher, leading his team to their second win in a row. The Italians shortened the series to 2:3. Filippo Rigoni gave the home team the lead in the third minute. It then took until the 22nd minute before Valentini scored for the first time that evening. Although Meran was able to reduce the gap in the 26th minute, Asiago remained the clear dominant team and continually extended its lead. They added two more goals in the middle period, followed by two more goals in the final third. However, Asiago still needs two wins to completely turn the series around and still make it to the semi-finals. Game six continues in Merano on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
