A new chapter is opening for Austro-Export Theresa Schafzahl. The Styrian was transferred from the US East Coast to the West Coast last night.
Weizerin has been on North American ice for many years; she made her debut in the USA in 2018 for the University of Vermont Catamounts. She studied and played in Burlington for five years before being drafted by the Boston Fleet in the Premier Womens Hockey League (PWHL) Draft.
For the last two and a half years, Schafzahl stormed for the team from the US state of Massachusetts and was able to collect 17 scorer points in 69 games this season. Now a new adventure awaits the 25-year-old.
Last night, Schafzahl was traded to Seattle Torrent in exchange for 28-year-old Canadian Jesse Eldridge. In Seattle there will be a reunion with superstar Hilary Knight, who also played for Boston between 2023 and 2025 and was most recently crowned Olympic champion with Team USA in Milan.

Just like Anna Meixner, who was traded from the Ottawa Charge to the Vancouver Goldeneyes before mid-January, Schafzahl is now storming in the Pacific Northwest. There will be a reunion with the former club on March 21st, and there will be two more “Austro duels” in mid-April.
