All four quarterfinal series of the win2day ICE Hockey League will continue on Tuesday. The Moser Medical Graz99ers and HC Falkensteiner Pustertal can already secure their place in the semi-finals. Olimpija Ljubljana also has the chance to make it 3-1 in the series against HCB Südtirol Alperia in front of their home crowd. Meanwhile, only the second game is on the program between Hydro Fehérvár AV19 and the EC-KAC. Klagenfurt’s away game and EC Red Bull Salzburg’s guest appearance in Bruneck are also available with German commentary on Sporteurope.tv.
Graz has its first match puck on Tuesday against Villach after the 99ers won the previous three games 2:1/OT, 5:1 and 3:1. For the first time in league history, the Styrians lead 3-0 in a best-of-7 series. Overall, it would only be the third semi-final appearance for the 99ers and the first since 2019. VSV, on the other hand, has only been down 3-0 once in a best-of-7 series – in the quarter-finals in 2024 against Bolzano. The Adler were able to win game four, but in the end Bolzano prevailed 4-1. The Carinthians also lost 3-0 to Vienna in the 2005 semi-final, in a best-of-5 series.
Pustertal with its first match puck against series champions Salzburg
For only the second time in league history, ten-time champion Salzburg is down 3-0 in a playoff series. In the 2021 semifinals against KAC they ended up losing 4-1. Now they are in danger of losing a playoff series without a win for the first time after Pustertal won the first three games 3:2/OT, 2:1 and 4:3. Incidentally, Salzburg initially took the lead in all three games. For Pustertal it is the first 3-0 lead in a playoff series, and the second semi-final participation is within reach. In 2024 they defeated Fehérvár in their seventh quarter-final game. The only time in the league’s history that a 3-0 scoreline could be reversed was in the semi-finals in 2010, when Vienna was already leading 3-0 against Linz and ultimately lost 3-4. For all Austrian fans, the game will also be broadcast on Sporteurope.tv with German commentary.
Ljubljana is aiming for its first home win of the series
So far there have only been away wins in the series between Ljubljana and Bolzano, which is why the Slovenians are leading 2-1. Olimpija won the start with 3:2/OT, followed by a 2:1 victory for Bolzano. In game three, Ljubljana turned a 0-2 deficit into a 3-2 away win within 38 seconds. If they are victorious in front of their home crowd, they will secure match pucks. In the regular season, Ljubljana won both home games against the South Tyroleans. For all Italian fans, the game will be broadcast live on DAZN Italia.
Game two between Fehérvár and Klagenfurt
The quarter-final series between Klagenfurt and Fehérvár only kicked off last Sunday, which the EC-KAC won 3-0 in front of their home crowd. Now comes game two at Fehérvár. The Hungarians were unable to win either of their two home games against the Red Jackets in the regular season (3:6, 1:2/SO). For all Austrian fans, the game will also be broadcast on Sporteurope.tv with German commentary.
