The experienced Slovenian Ken Ograjensek spent the last two years with the Steinbach Black Wings Linz and had only words of praise when he left the steel city.
At 34 years old, Ograjensek can already look back on a long time in the EBEL and the ICEHL. In 2022/12 he made his debut for HK Olimpija Ljubljana in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League. Many years later he is now back on the transfer market – after two years in Upper Austria.
The experienced striker fitted in well with Linz and was used in 81 games this season: his yield: a strong 67 points. But now, after a disappointing season for Linz, they part ways. The Slovenian national team player only had words of praise at the closing ceremony, especially for the fans, who always created a great atmosphere: “After this season, it’s unbelievable. At 95 percent of the clubs in the league, after such performances, no people would be at the games. We were almost sold out. That’s exactly why the farewell is so painful,” said Ograjensek to the “Upper Austrian news“.
Before his engagement in Linz, the Slovenian spent no less than eight seasons with the Graz99ers, but saying goodbye to the Stahlstadters is definitely difficult for the striker: “It has never been so difficult for me to say goodbye.” What comes next is uncertain. At 34, he definitely still has a lot left in the tank, as he demonstrated this year as Linz’s fifth-best scorer (it should be noted that he had to sit out eight games due to injury). With the experience of no less than 579 games this season, he could be a reinforcement for some teams.
