Fan rush continues unabated: records for several teams!

The rush of fans in the win2day ICE Hockey League remains unbroken. For the second time in a row, the magical mark of one million fans in the arenas was exceeded. The Vienna Capitals, the Moser Medical Graz99ers, HCB Südtirol Alperia, HC Falkensteiner Pustertal and Olimpija Ljubljana even set new club attendance records in the regular season.

Exactly 1,040,642 ice hockey fans have filled the arenas so far this season – that corresponds to an average of almost 3,200 fans per game. At the same time last season, the average was just under 3,000 spectators per game, which corresponds to an increase of six percent.

The Vienna Capitals are once again the best-attended team in the league on average. With an average of 5,059 fans per game, the capital city team set a new club attendance record. A total of 131,541 fans attended the Capitals’ home games this season.

Regular season winner Moser Medical Graz99ers also set a new attendance record with an average of 3,484 fans in the regular season. The 99ers’ tickets are also in great demand in the playoffs: both quarter-finals one and three were completely sold out.

With HCB Südtirol Alperia (3,375), Olimpija Ljubljana (2,932) and HC Falkensteiner Pustertal (2,743), three international clubs also set new club records in terms of spectator numbers in the regular season.

Fan rush in the playoffs

As expected, the playoffs are also a real crowd puller. After 15 postseason games (including pre-playoffs), 54,872 fans had already streamed into the arenas – an average of 3,658 spectators per game.

The crowds will also be big on Tuesday, because high tension is guaranteed in all four matches: Series champions EC Red Bull Salzburg and EC iDM Heat Pumps VSV are fighting against the early end of the season. Ljubljana can make it 3-1 in the series with a home win against HCB Südtirol Alperia, and EC-KAC has the chance to increase to 2-0 at Hydro Fehérvár AV19. Tickets for all playoff games can be purchased directly from the clubs.

All games are also available to stream on Sporteurope.tv. Selected matches will also be broadcast on ORF.
