The Villacher Adler were able to keep the second game against the Graz99ers level for a long time, but in the final third the Styrians went ahead 3-0, from which the Carinthians never recovered and are now 0-2 behind in the best of seven quarter-final series.
The two teams played a balanced and defensive game for two thirds, in which both teams missed numerous chances and the goalkeepers were always there. In the final third, the guests used their opportunities much more consistently: Within a few minutes, Paul Huber and Tim Harnisch made it 0:2, before Josh Currie increased it to 0:3. Villach reduced the score to 1:3 in the final phase through Maximilian Rebernig, but an empty-net goal from Kevin Roy and another goal from Jakob Lippitsch secured the Styrians’ 5-1 away win.
