After the narrow 3-2 overtime win, HC Pustertal also won the home game with just one goal difference and defeated Red Bull Salzburg 2-1. The Wolves are now leading 2-0 in the quarter-final series.
Pustertal also prevailed in front of their home crowd in the second quarter-final and made it 2-0. In a balanced first third, Travis St. Denis put Salzburg in the lead – as in the first duel – before Henry Bowlby equalized to make it 1-1 when he was outnumbered. Shortly after the start of the second period, Daniel Glira scored to make it 2-1 for Pustertal. The Red Bulls then dominated the game for long stretches, but despite numerous chances and periods of strong pressure, they were unable to find a way past Pustertal goalkeeper Edward Pasquale.
