After the 0:3 in the final series of the Carinthian Ice Hockey Division I against Steindorf, the duel between Althofen and the champions is also causing discussions off the ice. Steindorf boss Hans-Jürgen Tschernutter had described Althofen chairman Karl Weitensfelder as a “bad loser” because there were allegedly no shake hands.
Weitensfelder rejects this accusation against the “Crown newspaper” back: “I’m always fair, the fairest chairman in the league. And I congratulated official Armin Ratz, but then I had to take care of the organization and the press – then the award ceremony was already over and I no longer had a chance to shake Tschernutter’s hand. I congratulated the players afterwards and even did it on Facebook.
In addition, a subsequent suspension is a topic of discussion: Steindorf reported a foul by Althofen player Simon Hammerle via video to the KEHV criminal senate, which suspended the player for two games in the coming season. Weitensfelder questions whether this step was still necessary after the final series.
In a statement, the Althofen chairman also criticized some referee decisions during the series and made it clear that the relationship with Steindorf is currently very strained.
