AlpsHL: Derby time in Salzburg in the last round!

This Saturday the final round of the Master Round is scheduled for the Alps Hockey League. There will be another Salzburg derby between second-placed Red Bull Hockey Juniors and leaders EK Die Zeller Eisbären.

Both teams have already cemented their position in the table. However, a change in ranking is still possible in the second game of the day. Third-placed HC Migross Asiago welcomes fourth-placed KHL Sisak. The Italians are currently three points ahead of the Croatians and have also won their first direct duel (7:4).

All pre-playoff pairings were completed on Thursday, meaning the eight quarter-finalists have been determined. The quarterfinal pick will take place on Sunday morning, and the resulting pairings will then be announced via league channels. The quarter-final series begins on Tuesday, March 10th. All playoff games will be broadcast on Valcome.tv; With the Playoff Pass, all games are available for just €50. Further information is available at www.valcome.tv.

The first Salzburg derby in the Master Round was won by EK Die Zeller Eisbären 3-1 in front of their home crowd. With this victory, the Pinzgauers also secured first place in the Master Round and the first picking right. The Red Bull Hockey Juniors are eight points behind the Eisbären in second place and secured second place with a 7:4 home win against Asiago on Thursday. Zell am See won three of the four direct season duels in the Alps Hockey League so far. They also prevailed against the Juniors in the final of the Austrian AHL Championship.

Asiago against Sisak for third place

In the very last Master Round game, a change in ranking is still possible: Third-place HC Migross Asiago is currently three points ahead of Sisak and won the first meeting in the intermediate round away with 7:4. Sisak therefore needs a win after regular time with significantly more goals scored than Asiago in order to move past the Italians in the table. However, this will be an extremely difficult undertaking, because Asiago was able to win two of the three matches in the regular season. In addition, Sisak is currently not in good shape. On Thursday they won 4-3 away in Vipiteno, but it was their first success after five defeats in a row. Asiago lost 4-7 in Salzburg, one of two defeats in their last five games.
